Android RPGs That Are Not Pay-to-Win

By the developer

Disclosure: I am the developer, and I make CalemDrift. It is on this list because it is my game. The others are games I think are worth your time, described as fairly as I can. I checked the details on other games in October 2026. They can change, so check their sites.

My rule for "not pay-to-win" is simple. You should not be able to buy anything that makes your hero hit harder, survive longer or beat a boss sooner than someone who did not pay.

CalemDrift (my game)

Here is the whole shop, so you can judge it yourself:

It sells no gear, no stats and no mythic sets. Those come from playing. Legendary loot drops from monsters. Mythic class sets drop from solo raid bosses.

Drift Infusions add permanent stat points, capped by level. Kill a zone's raid boss, turn on its Drift, and the zone goes corrupt. Drift monsters scale to your level and drop Drift Shards. You forge shards into a Fractured Drift Rune at Runecraft and infuse it into one hero for +1 to a stat, for good. There is no way to buy a shard or a rune.

The Auction House trades items between players for gold, not real money.

Seven classes, 30 zones from level 1 to 50, 29 raid bosses, the Drift and Hardcore. Start in a browser and keep going on Android.

Shattered Pixel Dungeon

A free, open-source roguelike with short, deadly runs. The Google Play version has optional in-game purchases (supporter extras) and some analytics. The builds on F-Droid and GitHub have no ads or trackers. Either way, nothing you buy makes a run easier.

Old School RuneScape (mobile)

Free to start, with an optional membership that opens up much more of the world. Membership is a subscription, not a power shop, but it does lock a lot of content.

Minibia

A browser MMORPG in the style of classic Tibia. It works with touch controls in an Android browser. Premium gets you extras like houses and outfits, not combat power.

FAQ

Is CalemDrift free? Yes, in a browser or on Android.

Do XP and Loot Tokens count as pay-to-win? That is your call. They speed up leveling and improve your drop odds. They do not add stats, and every level, item and raid is the same for everyone. If that crosses your line, skip them. You can finish the game without them.
