Streak Crits Explained

Ranger class art from CalemDrift, a beginner-friendly ranged class

By the developer

Every non-gray kill in CalemDrift adds to your kill streak. It adds crit chance as it grows, up to a cap. Run it long enough and a normal crit can turn into a Streak Crit, which is a very large number in your combat log.

It looks like this:

STREAK CRIT! Your x[streak] streak erupts for [damage] damage!

The brackets fill in with your streak and the hit.

How it works

Forest Rat, one of the first monsters in Verdant Hollow

What resets your streak

Automatic rest between fights does not reset your streak.

How to keep it going

Verdant Hollow, the first hunting zone a new CalemDrift hero sees

  1. Pick a zone you can clear without resting by hand. For streaks, a zone a bit below your level usually beats one at your level.
  2. Leave auto-fight on.
  3. Bring sustain. Self-heals (Lay on Hands, Greater Heal, Life Tap, Mend) keep you in the fight.
  4. Clean your bags before you start. Use the Loot Filter so a full bag does not send you back to town.
  5. Do not travel mid-streak.

Streaks in the Drift

Thornwood Edge corrupted by the Drift, same forest with the thorns closing in

The Drift keeps its own survival streak, separate from your kill streak. The Quest Journal tracks it with dailies called Steady Nerve and Unbroken Thread, and a weekly called Weekly Survival Thread. Dying in the Drift ends it and switches that zone's Drift off.

Drift monsters scale to your level and some hit back when struck (Static Surge, Ember Veil, Grave Pulse). A long Drift streak is harder to hold than a normal one, which is the point.

FAQ

Can skills trigger a Streak Crit? No. Only your main auto-attack, and only when that swing already crits.

Does my streak carry over after a Streak Crit? No. Landing one resets the streak, so you build the next one from scratch.

Is there a Drift streak too? Yes. See the Drift section above.
